POETRY@thePPL ft. Liv Torc & Steve Spence

21 September 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

£5 Buy Tickets

Welcome to the fourth edition of the PPL’s foray into the world of live poetry

Located in the characterful and intimate space that is Plymouth Proprietary Library (inside half of a converted church hall), these events invite poets and fans of poetry alike to join us for an evening of reading, performing, and basking in the glow of the library’s mountain of books.

The evening will open its doors at 7PM for a 7:30 start, and will consist of two 25-minute open mic slots, followed by two 20-minute performances from our guest poets of the evening. These will be interceded by a 10 minute break.
This event will feature the wonderful LIV TORC & STEVE SPENCE!

LIV TORC is a Radio 4 Slam winner, a former Bard of Exeter, host of The Rainbow Fish Speakeasy and The Hip Yak Poetry Shack, and she runs the poetry stage at WOMAD, the COP26 project Hot Poets, Banana Poems and the lockdown haiku and photography project Haiflu – as featured on the Today Programme.

STEVE SPENCE is a poet from Plymouth, and is a joint organiser of the city’s longest running poetry evening The Plymouth Language Club. His first collection A Curious Shipwreck (Shearsman, 2010) was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, and his most recent publications are Eat Here, Get Gas & Worms (Red Ceilings Press, 2021) and How the Light Changes (Shearsman, 2021). He was assistant editor of Terrible Work magazine for four issues. His reviews have appeared in Stride, Litter and Tears in the Fence.
