A Live National Poetry Day Assembly With Michael Rosen & Hot Poets!
Thursday 1 October | 10am | 30 minutes | FREE for all UK schools
Your school is invited to get ignited this National Poetry Day with a joyful, wonder-packed live assembly bringing primary and secondary schools across the UK together to celebrate the power of poetry.
Join one of the UK’s best-loved children’s poets, Michael Rosen, alongside Hot Poets Liv Torc and Chris Redmond and two brilliant Young Poet Laureates, courtesy of the National Literacy Trust, for 30 minutes of performance, conversation, poetry and participation, designed to ignite your pupils’ imaginations for National Poetry Day and beyond.
This year, Hot Poets are taking over National Poetry Day with a mission to make the planet cool again – using poetry to tell positive, hopeful and surprising stories about our changing world.
The assembly will introduce the Hot Poets WONDER takeover and the incredible collection of free poems, films and classroom resources available to teachers, while giving pupils plenty of inspiration, ideas and word wizardry to launch their own National Poetry Day adventures.
And everyone gets to be part of it. During the assembly, pupils joining the interactive webinar can send in their own responses to “WONDER is…”, with Michael weaving some of their words and ideas into a new poem live in the moment.
The first 1,000 schools to sign in can join the interactive Zoom webinar, while schools everywhere can watch via the live YouTube broadcast. The assembly will also remain available to watch throughout National Poetry Day.
One morning. Thousands of young people. A whole country wondering together.
Let’s ignite National Poetry Day.
